Frequently Asked Questions

  • I use a combination of Narrative and Solution Focus Therapy in order to help clients process their experiences in their own words — this allows them to better identify their values and skills when working towards therapeutic goals.

I focus on the development of a trusting, collaborative relationship between myself and my clients, to accomplish established goals and foster a safe environment for growth. I take time to understand each individual’s lived experience, and support the LGBTQIA+ community as an ally.

Whether you’re just starting your journey or looking for a fresh perspective, I’m here to help you by providing support and care on your unique path.

  • I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) based in Matthews, North Carolina, and I see clients that live in North Carolina and South Carolina (teletherapy only). I offer teletherapy, walk-and-talk sessions, and have limited availability for in-office sessions. I also offer various workshops and groups.

I work with individuals, couples, and families of all ages. My specialty is working with people who are on fertility and parenting journeys. I also focus on helping people who are dealing with medical challenges, ADHD, life transitions, grief, and loss.

  • In recent years, there has been an increase in online healthcare offerings that has opened up many wonderful possibilities for receiving services virtually. These services can go by many names: Teletherapy, Telehealth, Virtual Counseling, E-Therapy, or Online Counseling. Whatever you call it, it can offer the genuine, professional, safe, and clinically sound space you want in a counseling experience.

Service providers and clients alike see the clinical and practical benefit of online services. Teletherapy has been shown to be as effective as in-person therapy and is compatible with talk therapy and EMDR. We use secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms, and extend this Teletherapy option to anyone residing in North Carolina or South Carolina.

There are many populations who benefit from the flexibility of Teletherapy services:

    • Stay at home parents working around nap schedules, childcare, and pick up times.

    • Individuals who are home bound due to an illness or disability.

    • Someone who lives in a rural area who is unable to find the right fit in a counselor.

    • Students due to schedules and lifestyle needs.

Additionally, there are specific reasons why a person would choose Teletherapy services.

    • Convenience: You can get support from the comfort and privacy of your own home or office. You cut down on the time and gas it takes to drive to and from your appointment. This flexibility can be helpful for everyone.

    • Confidentiality: No one sees you going in or out of an office.

  • We accept insurance for individual therapy sessions, and are in-network with the following insurances:

      • Most Aetna plans

      • NC State Health Plan

  • Insurance companies do not generally cover couples therapy because they consider it relationship maintenance rather than a medically necessary treatment for a specific mental health diagnosis. For this reason, we only bill couples sessions as self-pay.

    • New client consultation phone call, 15 minutes: FREE

    • Initial diagnostic evaluation session, 60 minutes: $225

    • Individual therapy session, 55 minutes: $200

    • Couples therapy session, 60 minutes: $225 (insurance not accepted)

We offer a free 15-minute consultation phone call for all prospective clients in order to determine if we may be a good fit. This is a chance for you to share a bit about why you’re looking for therapy, what you may want in a therapist, and ask any questions that you’d like answered.
